Volunteer

We are a small charity and we rely on the help of others to enable us to get things done. We value the time and expertise that individuals are able to give to our work and we welcome volunteers from all walks of life.

Whether it is helping us with public events around the country, researching our artefacts, indexing our picture library or helping with conservation, we have lots of opportunities through the year.

We will share here any volunteer opportunities we have available so that if you have the time you too can get involved with our incredible Antarctic heritage.

Our mission

We exist to preserve, enhance and promote British Antarctic heritage to engage, inform and inspire a global audience.

We actively manage the physical heritage of human endeavour in Antarctica through a sustainable conservation programme and use the stories they hold to inspire people to discover, enjoy and respect our Antarctic history.

Conservation

Conservation is at the heart of everything we do. The practical care and management of our historic sites and their artefacts in Antarctica is both our biggest challenge and our greatest responsibility. Our ongoing work to protect and stabilise these buildings and artefacts aims to ensure they will be available for future generations to learn from and enjoy.

Fundraise

If you have ideas for fundraising events or you want us to benefit from fundraising you’re doing then we want to hear from you. We can give you all the support and help you need to get underway.

Job opportunities at UKAHT

We have small dedicated teams in both the UK and Antarctica who work hard to keep our operation going, preserving our Antarctic heritage and sharing it with the world.

Every year we recruit a team to work in Antarctica and occasionally also have vacancies in the UK.  Find out about current vacancies here.
