Port Lockroy Selection and Recruitment Update
We are unable to run our bespoke selection and interview event this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.
The UK Antarctic Heritage Trust has thought long and hard about the recruitment process for Port Lockroy staff and have considered alternative ways in which we can safely and confidently recruit staff for the upcoming season.
We have been really impressed with the calibre of applications this year and thank all who applied for their time and effort to complete these. Whilst we look for core skills and attributes, we also believe the key to a successful season at Port Lockroy comes down to the team and the dynamics within the team. A major focus for UKAHT staff at selection is observing how individuals work together and from this, we create a team we are confident will work together and manage well for 5 months on a remote island.
We considered other ways to recruit a new team but essentially we believe that any other interview method would not be as effective for us. We have therefore made a difficult decision to cancel the recruitment and selection process this year and intend to recruit previous Port Lockroy staff only for the upcoming season at Port Lockroy.
Of course we understand this news will be very disappointing to you but we hope you understand why we have made this difficult decision. We aim to recruit as normal next year and encourage this years applicants to please to resubmit their application forms, with any additions or any updates.
Applications will next open in February 2021.
