Peninsula

Besides Port Lockroy the Trust has taken on the conservation management of five other historic sites: Damoy, Detaille, Horseshoe, Stonington, and Wordie.

Deception Island, as an ASPA (Antarctic Specially Protected Area) managed by several nations is more complicated but the Trust is supportive on any potential heritage conservation plans.  Download the Whalers Bay Visitor Guide (410KB pdf file).  You can find details of all British buildings on the Peninsula on the British Antarctic Survey website here.

We are delighted to have received news of a grant of £100,000 from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to support the Trust's work repairing and maintaining heritage sites in the British Antarctic Territory, as we prepare to mark the many forthcoming centenaries of the heroic age of exploration

Thanks to our other Peninsula sponsors.

We are grateful for the close continuing co-operation with the International Association of Antarctica Tour Operators (IAATO), the British Antarctic Survey and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
