About the trust

The United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust works to conserve Antarctic buildings and artefacts, and to promote and encourage the public's interest in their Antarctic heritage.

The Trust's Patron is HRH The Princess Royal and its Vice Patrons are Sir Ranulph Fiennes, Dr Dafila Scott, and Dr Charles Swithinbank. The Trust is managed by Trustees drawn from the ranks of those with Antarctic expertise and/or are enthusiasts for the region.

Key Volunteers

A few people give enormous amounts of their time and expertise  Among them are:

Alan Carroll who was base leader in 1957. Ever since the 1996 restoration of Bransfield House he has worked tirelessly restoring the ionosonde, countless radios, and other scientific equipment. He went South again in 2006 to advise on layout and artefacts.

Sally Owen worked at Port Lockroy in 2007.  She lives in Stanley and acts on our behalf in many guises in the Falkland Islands.

Jonathan Selby, whose company, Xaxero is listed on our sponsors page, has provided the know-how and advice, as well as hands on installation, for all our vital communications equipment and software.
