In addition to managing heritage sites on the Antarctic Peninsula, we also operate a grants programme. We give money to organisations with an interest in sharing the stories of British endeavour in Antarctica.

We have supported a whole range of projects and we are interested in hearing from any organisation with an idea for a project which further our organisational aims:

  • Preserving and enhancing the unique physical heritage of human endeavour in Antarctica to the highest standards, in the UK, in Antarctica and beyond.
  • Inspiring people to pursue a lifelong engagement with the legacy of the pioneers of British Antarctic science and exploration.

All our grants are funded through income generated from donations, legacies, the support of visitors to Port Lockroy and the ‘Friends of Antarctica’.

Fulfilling our Mission

UKAHT supports UK and overseas organisations with grant aid towards outreach and education projects that fulfill the mission of the Trust.

The principles for the Trust’s grant giving are enshrined in its mission statement:

The United Kingdom Antarctic Heritage Trust exists to advance the preservation, enhancement and promotion of British Antarctic heritage to engage, inform and inspire a global audience.
